Vinegar, practically everyone has it at home. Although it is best known for being a key ingredient in vinaigrette and for its role in the preparation of certain dishes, its usefulness is not limited to the sphere of cooking. This ingredient is actually almost magical, considering the incredible amount of things that can be done with it.

Among all the kinds of vinegar, it is  cider vinegar, or apple vinegar, which has the greatest therapeutic virtues. Recognized as an antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal, it can be used primarily to treat all kinds of common problems such as fungi, dandruff or body odor.

Among the many benefits that cider vinegar has for health in general, there are some important for that of the feet in particular.

Apple cider vinegar, an effective remedy for many foot conditions

You've probably noticed that in the hot weather we're going through, our feet are pretty rough: whether it's the heat and the sweat they get in our shoes or the barefoot walk around the pool, we are easily catched with fungal infections, warts or simply unpleasant odors.

Here are some small troubles that can be easily treated with apple cider vinegar:

1. Sore and tired feet

After a full day spent in your shoes, there is a good chance that your feet will not end up in the best condition. To restore their vitality and soothe any feelings of discomfort, give them a good bath in a bowl of water which you will have mixed with half a glass of cider vinegar and a cup of sea salt.

2. Fungal infections of toenails

Apple cider vinegar has anti-fungal properties that will certainly help you clear your fingernails of nail fungus and restore healthy nails. To take advantage of these benefits, bath your feet in a basin filled with 2/3 water and 1/3 of cider vinegar for fifteen minutes once a day.

3. Athlete's feet

To heal the athlete's feet, proceed to the same baths as nail fungus, over a period of ten days after that you will certainly notice an improvement.

4. Bad smells

If you have unpleasant odors every time you take off your shoes, you could try vinegar water baths with 1/3 vinegar, to which you can add, if necessary, a large cup of baking soda, an excellent ingredient to eliminate all kinds of odors. Dip your feet in this mixture once a day for 15 minutes.

5. Warts and calluses

Apple cider vinegar has, thanks to the acids it contains, gentle exfoliating properties that are useful if you want to alleviate calluses or get rid of warts. To take advantage of these properties and have soft feet, soak them first in a hot water bath for a few minutes. Then replace the water with a mixture of water and cider vinegar in which you will soak your feet for about fifteen minutes. You can also soak a cider vinegar compress, apply it on the area that you want to treat it and let it work overnight.

6. Dry foot

If you are prone to dry feet, you can immerse your feet in a bath of apple cider vinegar for 45 minutes. This will have the benefit of exfoliating the skin and relaxing tense areas. At the end of these 45 minutes, rub the rough spots with a Spongy stone, then hydrate your feet with a moisturizing cream or oil. The skin on your feet will quickly become supple and soft.

Warning

Be careful when using apple cider vinegar. Like other types of vinegar, it contains acids that could, if misused, can cause skin reactions such as itching or burning.

If you experience any of these symptoms, remove your feet from the bath and rinse them with clean water.
